Better
understanding between European and Asian countries is crucial in
creating the cultural, political and economic prerequisites for
preventing climate change.
The aim is to facilitate a dialogue that would provide elements
for policies, action, negotiation and eventually agreements
helping the humanity to prevent climate change and its impacts
which threaten to affect the lives of millions of people in Asia
and Europe.
The dialogue brings together politicians, civil servants,
researchers, business-representatives and civil society actors
to debate the future of climate protection.

THE CHALLENGE – IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN ASIA AND EUROPE
The first part of the dialogue focuses on facts about economic,
ecological and social developments in Asia and Europe. Central
issues are the costs and effects of climate change both in Asian
and European perspective.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS – POLICY OPTIONS AND FRAMEWORKS FOR COMMON
ACTION
The second part of the dialogue concentrates on the different
possibilities to react on the climate challenge in the future.
The various approaches range from technological visions to
frameworks for innovation systems. Four different models of a
future climate regime are being presented and commented. Finally
the participants will gather in a round table to discuss the
future pathways of climate protection. |
